In the entertainment industry, actors are there to bring different characters to life. They can either be fun, silly, or at times, be so pumped with energy as they do all sorts of crazy stunts and fight scenes. Did you know that there are actually brilliant actors that know martial arts? Check out the toughest 5:
1. Chuck Norris
As long as you’re looking for actors that know martial arts, you’ll definitely see Chuck Norris in that list. Norris has won too many martial arts championships and even founded his own discipline, Chun Kuk Do. He’s not just impressive in the movies. You bet he’s equally amazing in real life. He has a black belt in different martial arts such as Tang Soo Do, Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Judo.
His reputation as a man of action is definitely well-deserved. As for his experience, he joined the Air Force when he was still young and was stationed in Korea where he first trained in Tang Soo Do. The techniques of the said martial art combines the elements of Shotokan, Subak, Taekkyon, and Kung Fu. When he got his black belt, Chuck Norris developed his own fighting style called the Chun Kuk Do. He was even the first westerner to be awarded an 8th-degree black belt in Taekwondo, becoming a Grand Master. Wow!
You can definitely see his impressive skills in the successful film, “Way of the Dragon,” that starred another martial arts prodigy, Bruce Lee. Since then, he played different roles in a string of action movies.

2. Jason Statham
Appearance-wise, you’ll definitely expect that Jason Statham knows martial arts. You are not wrong with that. He actually emerged as one of the most badass characters in many modern action movies, and it’s not just because of his sexy British accent. Statham is famous for playing tough, irredeemable, and machiavellian characters. In fact, he regularly performs his own combats and stunts because he’s one of the actors that know martial arts.
Many say Statham can easily “choke you out” and kill you if he wants to. Partner that with his deadly gaze, and we’re going to run away in fear. This badass guy is trained in various martial arts such as kickboxing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and Wing Chun. With that kind of skillset, you can already understand why he has a lot of grappling and ground fighting scenes.
With a gorgeous face, a killer body, and actual fighting knowledge, what’s not to love about Jason Statham?

3. Hugh Jackman
Hugh Jackman is best known for his role as the mutant Wolverine/Logan in the X-Men films franchise. But don’t think playing such character only requires fake martial arts knowledge. Jackman had to undergo extensive training regimens just to get into shape for the mutant role. After all, he doesn’t really have powerful claws in real life.
Jackman studied various martial arts as part of his training, and also to help him give the Wolverine character the ideal physical body and “animal rage.” All we can say is, well done, Hugh!

4. Ashton Kutcher
Look at the guy on the right side of the photo. Yes, this seemingly sweet and easy-going guy isn’t exactly what you think he is. Don’t underestimate Ashton Kutcher because he can easily beat you to the ground if you mess with him. Kutcher has trained Brazilian jiu-jitsu and even traveled to Brazil just to practice the art and learn new methods. He values the martial art greatly. On top of that, one of his accomplishments includes the black belt he received under the training of his mentor Ricardo De La Riva Goded.
Kutcher has a phenomenal background in wrestling and his mentor Rigan Machado even said that he was surprised to know that the actor’s skill was very “high level.” According to Machado, the actor had the right body for jiu jitsu, and would probably do well if he were to compete. His long legs and body size like that of Roger Gracie would give him an edge. Heck, back then, his mentor even thought Kutcher could probably beat McGregor in a grappling match.
Keep in mind: he can kick your ass anytime.

5. Ed O’Neill
The Modern Family star is apparently one of the actors that know martial arts. Who would’ve thought? He seemed so relaxed and chill as Jay in the famous American television mockumentary family sitcom. You will also remember Ed O’Neill as grumpy old Al Bundy from “Married with Children.” Guess what? He actually spent 16 years attaining his Black Belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu, and has also kept up with his training for years since.
His love for the martial art was accidental because he was just invited to a class. The rest, as they say, is history. Now, Ed O’Neill just loves to roll!
